When the Great Pumpkin becomes a pie

This week is Thanksgiving, so what are your thankful for? Ok I’m just kidding I’m not going to be that cheesy. I want to talk about the day after Thanksgiving, BLACK FRIDAY DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN! If you don’t know what Black Friday is, it’s the day after Thanksgiving when usually a lot of stores have really big sales for the Christmas season. This year a lot of stores are just having a lot of really good sales during the whole month of November and not doing Black Friday sales due to INCREASED VIOLENCE AND HOSTILITY!!! Why did I put that in all caps to imply yelling? The reason is this, the day after a day we are supposed to be thinking about and being thankful for all the things that we have, people are going out and being greedy, selfish, and rude to buy gifts for a holiday that originally was designed to celebrate the birth of the man who would give the ultimate selfless gift. I am a fan of irony but that sends me into overload. I try to have my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving, and if I can’t then I get it online because, starting Black Friday, people out in stores are completely unaware of the people around them. Everyone is focused on their own needs. Right now you have about 4 weeks until Christmas and its going to be easy to get caught up in the stress of the materialism that this holiday has developed. Am I going to have the money to get so and so what they want? Are there going to be any blah blahs left? What if domahoochy doesn’t like what I got them? Is it the thought that really counts? Because if it is why are we shopping with so much stress in our minds? The best gifts come from the heart not from the stress. Take a minute just today while you are watching football or checking your Facebook or whatever it is you are doing this afternoon and just stop, go some where quiet, and breathe. Relax and realize no matter what you are blessed and you are loved and leave the stress to the people who need things to express their love. Become the Target
